Heating Assistance/Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)

Heating Assistance, also known as the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), is a federal grant program that helps income-eligible Rhode Islanders pay their energy bills. In order to qualify, your household must be at or below 60% of Rhode Island’s median income levels.

How to get started:

This program is administered by the Rhode Island Department of Human Services, and applications are accepted through local Community Action Program (CAP) agencies from September through May each year.

The Good Neighbor Energy Fund

Good Neighbor Energy Fund is for customers who are undergoing a temporary financial crisis, but may not qualify for HEAP. The program is managed by the United Way of Rhode Island. To apply, visit the Good Neighbor Energy Fund’s website.
