How to Provide a Meter Reading
There are three ways to provide us with a meter reading during COVID to avoid estimated reads.
Please have your account number ready to reference.
One: Email a photo of your meter
On your scheduled meter reading dates, email a photo of your meter to CustomerService@rienergy.com. Please include:
- Your name
- Address
- Rhode Island Energy account number
Two: Provide your meter reading over the phone
Call 1-855-RIE-1101 for electricity accounts or 1-800-870-1664 for gas accounts, and follow the prompts. At the main menu, say "meter reading" and then choose your options by saying:
- Provide a reading
- Date for next reading
Three: Make an appointment to get a manual reading
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-7:00pm
Electric: 1-855-RIE-1101
Gas: 1-800-870-1664
Please have your account number ready to reference. Ask the customer service rep to set up an appointment to have your meter read. You may need to explain that you are currently receiving estimated readings.
Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a call 30 minutes before the technician arrives to complete the reading.
