How it works

1. Schedule a free pickup

We’ll come to your home or business. Before pickup, please remove refrigerator or freezer doors if placing appliances outside.

2. Receive your rebate

After we collect and recycle your appliances you’ll receive your rebate check in the mail.

3. Upgrade and save

Use your rebate when you upgrade to a more energy-efficient appliance and enjoy the cost savings.

Dehumidifier and room air conditioner drop-off events

Bring your working dehumidifier or room air conditioner to a local turn-in event — no need to schedule a pickup. We’ll recycle it responsibly and mail you a $30 rebate.

Recycling program eligibility

  • Must be a Rhode Island Energy residential (A-16 or A-60) or commercial (C-06 or G-02) electric customer
  • Appliances must be in working condition
  • Refrigerators/freezers must be 10–30 cu. ft.
  • Limit: 2 pickups per account per year
  • Dehumidifiers or room air conditioners must be included with a refrigerator/freezer pickup
  • Dehumidifiers or room air conditioners must be working and dehumidifiers must be between 20–70 pints in size

Rebate processing

  • Incentives processed within 6–8 weeks
  • Appliances must be picked up by our official partner, ECO+
