Energy Code Technical Support and Training

In 2023 the Rhode Island General Assembly passed H6101/S 0855 Sub A which required the state to adopt the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (2024 IECC) within 90 days of publication, without weakening amendments.

This legislation also required Rhode Island to adopt the electric readiness provisions in the 2024 IECC within one year of publication. These provisions had been relegated to Appendices during the final ICC approval process.

The Rhode Island State Energy Code (RISBC-8) is now based on the 2024 IECC with electric-ready Appendices RK and CH. The Rhode Island energy code document can be found here: https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/RIECC2024P1
