We can help you renovate or build a single-family or multi-family home that has greater comfort, cleaner indoor air quality, and lower energy costs. Rhode Island Energy’s Residential New Construction (RNC) program provides financial incentives and no-cost education, training, and technical support to builders and homeowners to help single and multifamily new construction and major renovation projects (including additions) meet high energy performance standards, resulting in lower operating costs and increased durability and comfort.

Working in partnership with the builder, a certified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rater will assess the initial energy efficiency design of the home and provide on-site verification services throughout the construction process. Energy modeling will be used to verify compliance, allowing flexibility in meeting the RNC requirements.

Higher incentives are offered for more efficient homes, and additional incentives are offered for certifications such as ENERGY STARDepartment of Energy's (DOE's) Zero Energy Ready Home, and Passive House, and/or to meet the requirements of the current RI residential stretch code.
