Empowering Communities Programs
Funded by the PPL Foundation, Rhode Island Energy’s Empowering Communities Grants will provide support to non-profits throughout Rhode Island. Grants of $1,000 to $50,000 will be awarded to support education initiatives; promote diversity, equity, and inclusion; and strengthen community resources. Funds will be used to inspire students to explore career opportunities, facilitate community conversations on diversity and inclusion, encourage environmental conservation in the next generation, and much more.
The PPL Foundation was established by PPL Corporation, Rhode Island Energy’s parent company, in 2012 to support programs that improve lives in areas served by PPL’s utilities. Since 2015, the independent, non-profit foundation has awarded more than $20 million to non-profit organizations.
Grant applications will be accepted until February 23, 2024, and will be awarded in May 2024.

- First-time users in our application portal will need to complete a profile and create a password.
- Click Start a New Major Grant Application to begin. You will need to provide the following:
- Contact info
- Organizational profile
- A summary of your request
- Uploads of any relevant documents (Ex: annual budget, program budget, annual reports, brochures, etc.)
Empowering Communities Sponsorships
Through its sponsorship program, Rhode Island Energy supports many events and programs benefiting the local community. Applications will be accepted year-round.
